Funny DNC Moment and Other Assorted Rambles

We were watching a few moments of the DNC last night... not intently because I keep hoping HRCs supporters take over and cause a problem... but just to see what we'd missed with BHusseinO's wife speaking. Unfortunately she hadn't yet.

Anyways.... it's just before 9 when we were flipping channels and the cuckoo clock rang 9... who was on my TV screen at that exact moment on one of the channels in a replay of its performance earlier?? EDWARD KENNEDY! David with his dry humor says, "How appropriate."

I am so freaking tired of the love fest for BHO. I heard a poll yesterday speaking of our country being split this way: 60% conservative and 36% liberal. Yet, why on earth do I have to hear the sound of lip smacking backside from the media? I'm disgusted as a former wanna be journalist. Something you learn (or used to anyway) in journalism school is that one must be OBJECTIVE and report BOTH SIDES. CNN, ABC, CBS, NBC and all of their casts of characters, do NOT show objectiveness, but a love of all things costly. Something to think about... how's BHO going to pay for his grand schemes? On our backs.

Something else I heard yesterday... the conservative Italian got booted a couple of years ago due to discontent with the economy. Well, new guy came in and raised taxes and the economy has continued on the bad trend. Guess what?!?!!? Yep, the right winger is back in power. There are some advantages to having a parliamentary system... like not having to wait 4 years or 8 to get rid of the bastards.

Just some food for thought as you get to your day.

I have a....

well, according to MLKJr, it was a dream... according to me and the headache of election coverage, I have a HEADACHE.

I'm amazed to think Hillary had thought she would get a chance at the White House with BHusseinO. She screwed it up the first time she was president... I mean VP... Oh heck, I mean the first leech.

Now, BHusseinO thinks he has the corner on running a campaign. I will admit, I've been amused by the attempt to lay low and pull one over on the media with the not so secret secret of Joe Biden being picked for VP. Playing it this way ensures a week or so of nothing but a Democrat love fest at the convention and on TV with the media going "Oh BHussein... come talk to me. I will be nice to you and not throw hard questions like 'how the heck do you plan to fund national health care other than taxing us all to the grave and beyond'." I'm sick just thinking of it now. I wish my work had started this week, not next, so I don't become a convention junkie. The one I'd be more interested in isn't this week. And those hard questions the liberal media won't ask BHusseinO, where do you think they'll get asked instead?

BHusseinO is a liberal socialist. Take from the "rich" (some of our military members are lucky enough to own a house in one location to live in and another to rent to possibly retire in - they're now rich - BHusseinO needs to come visit some military posts/bases before making that decision stick) and give to the poor. Not a bad idea right? Well, it is. I'm tired of hearing how someone can't do something... get off one's bum and find a job. Lord knows people who want to go to school/college that can't get a grant because they make "too much" can't get goverment help - there must be lots for those who are less fortunate.

Why people insist on having a hand out and badmouthing those who have something for the work they've done, I've not figured out. This country, I thought, was built on the backs of people who came here for something better and worked for it. Today, some people just won't lift a finger to do something for themselves. "Oh poor is me." What if we all decided to take that path? Where would we be then? No one works? No taxes collected? Makes you think a bit?

I have more thoughts today but have to go run an errand... have a super Saturday afternoon.

Change Change Change

Just thinking out loud....

I think (and yes, I'm an arrogant but respectful world traveler) that the USA is the best country by far. I've heard what socialized medicine is to people in Great Britain and Germany. I have a version of it with military care. I can roam about whenever and wherever I want without someone saying "I vant to see your papers." We have so many natural wonders in this country that pretty much put to shame even the most fabulous castles in Europe. Grand Canyon, Arches National Park, Yosemite, Yellowstone, Glacier... I can go on, but won't.

This is my pondering the last week or so... if America is such a great country, why does someone insist on being the person to "change" it? Yeah, all countries have their problems... ours is a two party government and people wanting something for free. We want government to not be so nosey, but we (generic, certainly not me) want something from them.

Yes, we could have health care for everyone. We can also be run into the ground like Jimmy Carter did us in the 70s. TAX TAX TAX! Oh and SPEND SPEND SPEND! While health care paid for by the government would be nice... think about it... WE PAY FOR IT. TAXES. Want to pay more? The Germans pay 19% for their VAT (Value Added Tax) on everything. So buying that $10 item in the store would add another $2. Take that out further to think big... $100 adds an extra $20. Of course, they don't actually see the price and the tax... it's ADDED to the price. The cost of goods in this country sucks right now and adding more government mandates just will add more to the cost.

Well, that's my ramble for the moment. I have some other thoughts after having escaped the confines of the state of North Dakota for a few days, if only over the border. I need to go out tomorrow with the boys and take some pictures... you should see the sunflower fields around here. OMG!!! It's a beautiful sea of yellow, and it's not one of my colors. :D There is one additional site I like about ND... the sunflowers and welcome signs to SD, MT, MN and Canada. LOL I really did want to return, if only to come home to where my stuff is. :) Home is where my family is.... for a few days it was the Mall of America.

Oh, one more thought... oh I'll save it for my post about our trip to the Twin Cities.

It's The Most Wonderful Time of the Year

Countdown started.... we're T-27 days to the first day of school and the return to my freedom. This assumes I don't find a job between now and then first.

I'm half-heartedly looking for an office job on base and figured out it's IMPOSSIBLE unless you have an "in." Don't know how to get the "in" but I'm trying. I did get email stating my name was being sent to the "employing agency." Well, they emailed a few days later to see if Iwas still interested. Well, that was last Tuesday. It's now 10 days later, email and voice mail later, I have NOT heard from the office again. I'm trying to not bug them to death, but at least tell me you're not interested in my talents to work in your office. Don't be rude and blow me off. Seeing as the phone went to voice mail yesterday, and she's still not returned the call, I'm wondering if she's out of town. So, do I email her again tomorrow? Or just give up on this endeavour. I'm so mad. I was hoping to at least get an interview. Give me a shot! It's only a TEMPORARY job til September 30, so it's not like a "real" job. BUT, one to get me "in" the system.

Back to happy thoughts... I think the boys and i will do some school shopping this weekend or next week. Matthew needs some long pants and shirts. I think we've got short sleeves covered and could use some bigger fleece jackets. Winter is only 2 months away. You know... October... Halloween... costumes that fit over snowsuits. God bless the North Plains!

I'm off... more than you ever could imagine LOL But I need to drop someone a line about t-shirts for the school PTA to sell. I need to get those ordered like yesterday. Lovely.

Have a good night!
